The Initial Situation
The project aimed to migrate HR services previously managed by external providers or internal teams to a centralized Global Business Services HR organization. Future payroll processing would be delivered through the established SAP HCM system of the Global Business Services HR organization.
To ensure project success, the carve-in required continuous governance, structured risk management, and comprehensive quality assurance led by experienced SAP HCM experts. A profound test concept and ongoing test management were essential to guarantee a stable, compliant solution and secure successful go-live.
The Critical Challenges
The project involved integrating two subsidiaries into a complex HR target architecture, focusing on SAP master data and payroll—including advanced payroll schemas and wage type catalogs. Following previous acquisitions, HR processes required re-harmonization to ensure operational consistency and regulatory compliance. Furthermore, a parallel Time & Attendance rollout demanded tight synchronization with the payroll integration timeline.
How We Supported the Client
binder|consulting designed a comprehensive test strategy defining governance, methodology, and detailed planning. Our team managed end-to-end system testing with clearly defined test cases and acceptance criteria, as well as structured payroll comparison cycles to validate payroll accuracy. Payroll comparisons were closely coordinated, with deviations systematically analyzed and corrective actions implemented. Defect management was executed in close collaboration with HR and IT teams to ensure transparency and rapid resolution.
The Impact Delivered
We established transparent progress tracking across all test levels, providing complete coverage of business and payroll requirements to ensure functional and regulatory compliance. Clear completion reports were delivered for each test phase, consolidating results and enabling formal acceptance with full confidence in the integrated HR and payroll platform.
